Hi Everyone! I am happy to introduce Miki Brittenham, she is a professional intuitive, coach, animal communicator and crystal practitioner. She’s been my friend since late 2016 and I adore her. She’s been my confident, friend and coach. She means so much to me. I am sooo excited for you to get the know her.
Here’s our interview:
-Where are you from? Where do you live now?
I am originally from Hawaii. I grew up on the island of Maui until I was about 9 years old and then my mom and I moved to the island of Oahu. It was a really magical place to grow up. I’ve had so many experiences that most people haven’t had. I remember jumping in the truck with my uncles to go stop at the first stoplight on Maui when I was a little and driving around the block because the first time going through, it was green. I’ve swam with porpoise in the ocean while holding onto their fins, fed moray eels by hand while snorkeling, had manta rays jump over my head and swam with sea turtles. Between the ocean and hiking in the mountains, there was always something to do. I love to hike and some of the best hikes I’ve ever been on have been in Hawaii. There’s nothing like hiking around and coming across guava and mountain apple right along the trails. Some of the best fruit ever! Now I live in South Texas outside of Houston. We moved here 11 years ago, when my husband’s job got transferred here. Some things about it remind me of home, but not much honestly. It’s really flat here. And hot. It’s ok for now, but it’s not my forever home.
-What is your brand/ passion?
To be of service in everything I do. Whether it’s doing psychic work, coaching, teaching, making jewelry or selling something that makes someone feel good. My mission- now I sound like a space traveler- is to love and respect every life form on this planet. I try to bring as much joy and hilarity as I can, because life is joyous and funny. I think the greatest gift we can give people is our time and love and holding space for them because within that space is the true essence of what it means to be a human. And experiencing this whole existence together, now that is true magic. I am super passionate about rocks and crystals. Digging and looking for rocks is my favorite thing to do. The fact that I can combine rocks and crystals with my psychic and mediumship abilities is the coolest thing to me. I feel like readings and energy work belong together, and when the two are combined, it’s taking the whole being into account, offering them the most well-rounded picture of what they need to know.
-What inspires your work?
I really love rocks and crystals. They are amazing beings of energy. I know that might sound funny to some who look at them as inanimate objects, but being able to communicate with them has changed me in so many ways. There is so much to learn from them. Crystals and rocks inspire me each day. I feel lucky that my life is filled with them. My family and friends also inspire me. I feel so fortunate that they are in my life and that I am able to learn from them. It makes me want to be the best version of myself that I can. Sometimes I fall short, but I am always trying and I think that’s what counts.
-Will inspiration ever rule the world?
I think it already does. You can find inspiration everywhere you look. It’s like finding the magic in the mundane. It’s all about the way you choose to perceive your surroundings. All you have to do is open your eyes. Perception is a funny thing. No two people see things the same. Like when I see a gravel driveway, I get pretty excited because that gravel is chunked up rocks. I’ve found jasper, agates, quartz and flint just by looking at the gravel in random driveways. My husband has even found amethyst. If that’s not inspiring, I don’t know what is!
-What is happiness to you?
Oh, this is an easy one! Happiness is digging for rocks and crystals, then taking these amazing gifts home and making something beautiful with them that I can share with others. I love that I get to do this with my husband. We take off in our trailer on digging adventures, hikes and camping. It’s especially fun when my son, daughter and her family get to come. Being out in nature and taking in all that’s around me- the colors, the smells, the sounds- it really makes me feel alive. And to enjoy these things with the people I love the most is freaking awesome! The last time we did this, we spent two weeks traveling in a small RV. When I say small, I mean small! Like 30 feet small. It was my husband and I, our two grown kids, our son-in-law, two grandkids and two dogs. It was so much fun. One day we hiked 6 miles in the redwoods, down to the beach and all looked for agates. That was the best day! After two weeks together, in close quarters, we wished it wasn’t over. And that, my friends, is pure happiness! Or maybe that’s craziness. I’m not really sure.
-What do you want others to know about you?
I want people to know that I am real. What you see is what you get with me. I try my best to stay within the lane of reality, especially when I am doing readings. Don’t get me wrong here. I can talk about a lot of kooky sounding stuff sometimes, but I try to keep it as grounded as I can. I’m not airy-fairy. I’m interested in real life information that can be useful and helpful. I want to be able to help people in their lives and help them be the best version of themselves they can be. In doing that, I help myself.
-How do you share your passion with the world?
I would like to say that I share my passion with the world by slipping crystals or rocks into every conversation I have. You know, just kind of steering the topic in my direction. Like responding with, rock on! See how easy that was?!? Sometimes I talk about metaphysical stuff too. So, it’s a toss-up. But other than talking about these epic things, I share my love for them by doing readings and helping people become more in touch with their intuition. And by sharing my jewelry with others so they can enjoy these rocks and crystals as much as I do.
-Where can we find you?
If you were looking for me in person, I would say you could find me sitting in the dirt digging for various rocks or in my lapidary studio shaping rocks. And if I wasn’t there, I would probably be talking to some other life form and preparing to give a reading. But since we don’t all live in the same town, you would probably be looking for me online. -Are you currently working on a project you don’t mind sharing?
I’m working on a few things actually. I have 9-10 gemstones that I have been working on this past week. When I am shaping stones on my lapidary machines, I like to work several at a time because each one has to go through various stages of polishing before I can make them into a piece of jewelry. I am also in the process of creating a class on the foundations of energy and intuitive work. Almost like a 101 class. There are a lot basics that people either skip or simply don’t know. It’s only in the very beginning stages of creation, but I’m really looking forward to getting this piece of work out into the world.
-Do you do this fulltime or is it more of a side project?
This is my full-time gig. I try to divide my time between doing readings, coaching and working on jewelry and rocks. I really crave that art outlet. It keeps me grounded. Sometimes it’s a little more of one thing compared to the other, but it all works out. Doing readings and helping my clients always come first. I love what I do. It’s the best job ever. I am so fortunate that I get to talk to cool people, hang out with my dogs and play with rocks and crystals. I am grateful for my life every day.
-What are your plans for the future?
Lately, I have been thinking of teaching. The class I am working on as well as others. The way I do my readings, combined with crystals is pretty different than what most people do. I have been feeling like I should teach my method. I believe everyone is intuitive, it’s just a matter of how much they want to develop their abilities. It’s something I have been seriously thinking about for the future. Not sure how far into the future, but it’s definitely something I’m planning. Other than that, my plans are to go rockhounding. But I think that’s always my future plan.
